Lights On Afterschool

WHAT IS LIGHTS ON AFTERSCHOOL?

Lights On Afterschool is a national event to help raise awareness about the importance of afterschool and community-based programs during the non-school hours. More information about Lights On Afterschool is available on the Afterschool Alliance's website.

This year's Lights On Afterschool is scheduled for Thursday, October 16, 2008. Youth Community Connections encourages local and statewide afterschool and community--based organizations to highlight their programs. Lights On Afterschool events are a perfect opportunity for engaging community leaders and elected officials in your work.

For helpful information on planning your event, check out the Afterschool Alliance's Event Planning Kit. Register your event on-line by visiting the Afterschool Alliance's Host an Event
sign-up page.

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

Youth Community Connections is interested in learning more about your own Lights On Afterschool event! We know that several organizations and communities have been hosting these events in the past and we want to learn more about your celebrations. If your organization hosted or coordinated a Lights On Afterschool event last year and are interested in hosting something again this year – please consider contacting us!
